    Fukuoka stole my heart with its food. Known as the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen, it was only right that my first stop was a tiny ramen shop in Hakata. The broth was rich and creamy, topped with tender chashu pork and a soft-boiled egg. Sitting at the counter, slurping noodles alongside locals—it felt like a rite of passage.

  • Hiking Mt. Takao

    Just an hour outside Tokyo, Mount Takao felt like a complete escape from city life. The trail I chose, Trail 1, offered a mix of paved paths, forest stretches, and stunning views, perfect for a relaxed half-day hike. It’s an easy climb, but the dense greenery and shrines along the way make it rich with surprises.

  • A day in Kyoto

    Kyoto greeted me with the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant chime of temple bells. I started my day wandering through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, where the towering green stalks created an almost otherworldly calm. It’s a quiet reminder of how nature and tradition coexist so beautifully in Japan.

    Later, I made my way to Kiyomizu-dera, one of Kyoto’s most iconic temples, just in time to catch the afternoon light bouncing off the wooden terrace.
