Ingredients

  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder (culinary grade)
  • 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
  • Optional: white chocolate chips or sweet red bean paste for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the filling: In a small bowl, combine matcha powder and sugar.
  3. Prepare the dough: Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle. Cut into triangles for croissant shapes.
  4. Sprinkle matcha sugar: Lightly brush each triangle with melted butter, then sprinkle the matcha sugar mixture evenly over the surface.
  5. Add filling (optional): If using white chocolate or red bean paste, place a small amount near the base of each triangle.
  6. Roll croissants: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle into a croissant shape. Curve the ends slightly.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and flaky.
  8. Cool slightly, then dust with a little extra matcha sugar or powdered sugar before serving.
